High Speed Machining Technology

Revolution in "High speed machining technology" is leaving users way behind than the speed of technology itself. Sharing information on latest development with the end user in industrial segment is very slow.
"Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association" is actively working on symposiums.
Renound manufacturers and user will be addressing. These symposiums should be held more offen.
Bangalore being machine tools manufacturers hub for India, these symposiums should be held at machining centres i.e. Gurgaon, Faridabad, Thane, Nasik, Ludhiana, Coimbture, Chennai etc.

"Advances in machining technology is revolutionising the world of metal cutting. All over the world, High Speed Machining (HSM) technology is successfully deployed in Automotive, Die & Mould and Aerospace industry. The convergence of many technologies Viz ; machine tool actuation, high speed/ high frequency spindles, cutting tools and intelligent software has made High Speed Machining a practical process and allows machine tools to achieve remarkable levels of accuracy & productivity at breathtaking speeds. The application of HSM in the manufacturing process has several advantages and facilitates better design, high degree of precision, higher levels of quality, greater flexibility, reduced cost and so on. To maintain the competitive edge, it is imperative for the manufacturing industry to keep abreast of such developments and adapt them in the manufacturing process.

Keeping this in view Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association is organising a 2 day Symposium on 'High Speed Machining Technology', on 27-28 May 2008 in Bangalore. "

Reducing machining expenses

Indian industrial growth of organised sector has opened up new avenues for small enterprenures. Expensive CNC machinery, costly labour, sky-rocketing material cost are the basic concern to keep your costing of product competitive.
Multi- operational tools are making their own space to keep tooling cost low. Earlier Pune was the hub for these special tools, but Faridabad and Gurgaon has come up very well too. These tools may be used before finish size. Drilling, reaming, chemfering, burnishing etc can be clubbed in a tool.
Although none of the organised sector is looking at this opportunity to provide accurate tools, but few small manufacturers are providing exeptionaly good quality tools.

Indian Corporate and Hollywood

Diversification not only strengthen the business, but shows your guts too. Indian corporates are making their way inside most glamorous business at Hollywood. This should open new business opportunity for ever growing Indian economy. Short tenure projects, reasonable ROI and 'global name' should be the key.

This may not only be the opportunity for corporates but Indian Film industry also- Bollywood. Later stage may give chance to Indian actors, not so explored Indian sites (tourism), Sets and allied business.

Multi-Mat Grade carbide inserts

Rising inventory levels of consumable cutting tools- carbide inserts, in industry is another concern.
Lamina Technologies - switzerland, came up with multi purpose insert, which can handle most of the materials with one grade for milling and one grade for turning. Technology boosts for much higher feed and depth of cuts, making it worth a try. Even if some of the applications are changed with this multi-mat, inventory levels can be reduced drastically.

Tungsten Carbide Wear Parts

Pick any product and you wish if it would have given more life. Wear and tear is natural time bound process. Time to time different composition of material has given comparatively better life. Even composite materials are also being used.

Tungsten Carbide is the one which was used by industry as cutting tool material for its better wear resistence, but was supposed to be too brittle to be used as wear resistant part.

Now Tungsten Carbide is available with hardness of as low as 700 Hv compared to 1400/1600 Hv of yesteryears.

Electronica-Tough Carb is adding day by day newer grades to cater vast spectrum of wear parts users.

Advance Portfolio Technologies- CMM

Rapid industrial growth around the world is forcing manufactures to adopt newer technologies so that any new concept may be converted in to product at much faster pace. May be to eliminate, reduce unwanted competition at initial stage of development of product.

Any product constitutes of various small components. Change in component design or copying existing component, requires detail study of measurements and machineablity. Conventional measuring methods are time consuming, resulting in precious man hour loses and delayed launch of products.

Micro-Vu Corporation is probably offering solution. Using Automated Vision System, Manual Video System and Optical Comparators. These non-contact and contact measurement system use video and touch probe inputs to perform high precision 2D and 3D measurements.
